Online therapy in Hindi
Some feelings only make sense in the language you grew up with. You can talk to us in Hindi, English, or whatever mix comes naturally.
A lot of people in India think in one language, work in another, and feel things in a third. You might write emails in English and argue with your mother in Hindi, or find that the word for what you're going through only exists in the language your grandmother used. Therapy in Hindi means you don't have to translate yourself before you can be understood. At Nivaara Nest, both our counselling psychologists offer online therapy in Hindi, in English, and in the comfortable mix most of us actually speak.
Why online therapy in Hindi can feel different
Language carries more than words. The phrases your family used when you were small, the way a scolding sounded, the words for shame or pride or tiredness, these tend to sit closer to the feeling itself. When people speak in a second language, they sometimes describe their lives accurately but from a slight distance, as if narrating someone else's story. Switching into Hindi can close that gap. A sentence like "main sab se thak gayi hoon" can hold something that "I'm exhausted" doesn't quite reach.
Many people also find certain topics easier in one language than the other. Some feel freer talking about relationships or sexuality in English, and more honest about family duty, guilt or "log kya kahenge" in Hindi. There's nothing to fix there. Your therapist will follow your lead.
Talking to a Hindi-speaking therapist online
You don't need textbook Hindi. Speak the way you'd speak on a phone call with a cousin: half-sentences, English words dropped in, regional expressions, the lot. If you grew up with Hindi as a second or third language, that's fine too. The point is comfort, and you're welcome to change languages mid-session, or from one week to the next.
Some things that tend to come up more naturally in Hindi or Hinglish:
- conversations you've had, or want to have, with parents and in-laws
- pressure around marriage, career choices or board exam results
- the quiet weight of being the one who holds the family together
- childhood memories, and the words people used back then
Cherry has written more about this in therapy in your own language, including why it's normal to mix languages in session.
Who you'll be talking to
Nivaara Nest is run by two counselling psychologists. Cherry Narang has an MSc in Clinical Psychology and experience in hospital and rehabilitation settings in Mumbai. She works with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, OCD, addiction, anger, stress and burnout, identity exploration, inner-child healing, relationships and couples, using somatic, REBT, CBT, IFS and client-centred approaches. Shambhavi Shastri has an MA in Clinical Psychology and trauma-informed training. She works with anxiety, depression, big overwhelming emotions, self-esteem, shame and guilt, gender identity and sexual orientation, trauma and the body, using somatic, DBT and client-centred methods. You can read more about both on our therapists section.
Our work is queer-affirmative, neurodivergent- and disability-affirming, trauma-informed, and conscious of how caste, religion and family shape life in India. That matters in any language, and maybe especially in the one where those pressures were first spoken to you.

How online counselling in Hindi works
Everything happens online, so you can join from anywhere in India. Sessions are 50 minutes, and you choose how to show up:
| Format | Might suit you if |
|---|---|
| Video | You like seeing the person you're talking to |
| Video, camera off | Being seen makes it harder to open up |
| Audio only | Your internet is patchy, or you're talking from a quiet corner outside the house |
| Text chat | Family is nearby, or typing feels safer than speaking |
Fees follow our sliding scale: you choose ₹800, ₹1,000 or ₹1,200 per session. There's no proof or paperwork, and the care is the same at every price. More detail is on our affordable online therapy page.
To begin, you can book a free 15-minute intro call, in Hindi if you like. After that, you pick a therapist and a time on the website, fill in the intake at your own pace (in whichever language is easier), and payment details arrive by email once your therapist has read it. Hours run on weekday evenings and weekend afternoons, IST.

A few practical notes
Sessions are paid in advance to hold the slot. We don't offer refunds, but you can reschedule for free with at least 24 hours' notice. We don't provide diagnosis, psychological assessments or medication. If a psychiatrist's view could help, we'll help you find a referral. You don't need a diagnosis to begin.
We're also not an emergency service. If you're in crisis, Tele-MANAS (14416 or 1-800-891-4416) is free and runs 24×7. KIRAN is on 1800-599-0019, and 112 is for emergencies.
If you're new to all this, our guide to your first therapy session walks through what usually happens, from the intake form to the end of the first hour.
